There’s been a lot of buzz for Tim Burton’s upcoming 3D, stop-motion film Frankenweenie. But it may be a surprise to some that the new film is actually based on a 30-minute, black and white live-action short film with the same name.
The original 1984 short is was actually considered too weird by Disney, ultimately leading in Burton being booted from the studio. Interesting that nearly 30 years later, he’s back at the Mouse House with a version that’s even creepier than the first.

Frankenweenie hits theatres October 5, 2012.
