Today Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox announced the voice cast for their upcoming 3D CG-animated feature, Epic. The voice cast is quite impressive, featuring an array of Hollywood singers and actors:
- Beyonce Knowles – Queen Tara
- Colin Farrell – Ronin
- Josh Hutcherson – Nod
- Amanda Seyfried – Mary Katherine
- Johnny Knoxville – Mandrake
- Aziz Ansari – Mub
- Pitbull – Dagda
- Jason Sudeikis – Bomba
- Steven Tyler – Nim Galuu
- Blake Anderson – Dagda
- Judah Friedlander – Larry
According to the press release, the film is “a 3D CG action-adventure comedy that reveals a hidden world unlike any other.” The project, previously known as Leafmen, is based on William Joyce’s illustrated children’s book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. A little snippet of the plot was given as well:
EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and the forces of evil. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world…and ours.
The film sounds interesting; Sort of a mix between Fergully, Antz and A Bugs Life. It’ll be interesting to see Epic’s art style and also whether it will contain songs (based on the number of singers in the cast).
Epic is directed by Ice Age dirctor Chris Wedge and produced by Lori Forte and Jerry Davis. Epic hits the big screen next year on May 24, 2013.
What do you think of the Epic voice cast? Do you think the film will live up to its name?
