The 2015 D23 Expo just kicked off, and we already have our first big Toy Story 4 related announcement directly from the Expo. Earlier today, ABC’s Good Morning America revealed some new details about the upcoming fourth installment in Pixar’s Toy Story franchise that will hopefully delight fans.
While we already heard that Toy Story 4 is not supposed to be a direct continuation of the past films (but rather a brand new chapter in the Toy Story saga) and that this fourth installment is supposed to be a romantic comedy, today we discovered that the film will be centered around Woody and Bo Peep. We already saw some of their romance in the first two Toy Story films before Bo Peep unfortunately disappeared in the third installment. While there aren’t any more details about the film right now, we expect to get more later today, at 3 p.m., when John Lasseter will host a big panel about animation at the Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Animation Studios.
Toy Story 4 will be co-directed by John Lasseter and Josh Cooley from a screenplay by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and most of the original voice cast will return to reprise their respective roles.
Toy Story 4 is slated for a June 16, 2017 release.
What do you think of this news? Are you looking forward to Toy Story 4?
