The Alice?
We knew for a while that Disney’s 2010 blockbuster Alice In Wonderland was getting a sequel, and today we know the official title for the film, as well as the entire main cast of the film!
The sequel will be titled Alice In Wonderland: Through The Looking Glass; directly taken from Lewis Carroll’s Alice sequel, which has the same name. This probably means that the film will follow the book’s story (albeit loosely, like the first film). In fact, elements of Carroll’s sequel were incorporated into the first movie, such as the Jabberwocky and the Bandersnatch.
We also know much of the cast, with Johnny Depp (The Mad Hatter), Mia Wasikowska (Alice), Anne Hathaway (The White Queen), and Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen) reprising their famous roles. Sacha Baron Cohen joins the cast as “Time”, Rhys Ifans as Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter’s father, and Ed Speelers as James Harcourt. Supporting actors like Matt Lucas, Michael Sheen, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall, Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, and Paul Whitehouse will return as well.
The film will be directed by Muppets Most Wanted director James Bobin, with a script once again by Linda Woolverton. Danny Elfman will also return to compose the score, costume designer Colleen Atwood will helm the wardrobe, and Tim Burton will again executive produce.
Alice In Wonderland: Through The Looking Glass will tumble down the rabbit hole into theatres on May 27, 2016.
