The sugariest candy in all the land–Peeps–is going to get it’s very own feature-length animated film.
Peeps have recently been optioned for film and TV rights by writer, director, and producer Adam Rifkin, along with his partners, Brent Tinter and Brian E. Rochlin.
Every year, Just Born, the Pennsylvania-based company behind the marshmallow goodness, produces about $2 million worth of Peeps candy. Recently, the company has been wanting to branch out its marketing, so a film adaptation of their candy will definitely help to boost sales.
The synopsis reads:
“[The] Lego Movie-esque family epic set the night before a Peeps diorama contest, when a wayward Peep gets misplaced and must adventure through the fantasy lands of different-themed dioramas before the contest’s judging begins.”
After the phenomenal success of The Lego Movie, it’s no wonder that other toys and candy products are trying to cash in. It was also announced today that Mattel is going to bring Barbie to the big screen in her own live-action comedy film
