Mondo, the prints and collectibles boutique of the Austin, TX Alamo Drafthouse, has teamed up with Oh My Disney for an art show opening on March 7th called Nothing’s Impossible, as part of the SXSW film and music festival.
If you are not familiar with Mondo and their amazing work, now is a great chance to get acquainted. Mondo produces some of the best art prints based on previously existing films on the collectibles market. Typically they choose an artist and a film, and once they have a print they put it up for sale on their website at an unspecified time which they announce on their twitter. The selling out of each print can range from days, to more than often minutes, making them hotter than hot cakes.
Some of the artists Mondo and Oh My Disney have been working with are: Dave Perillo (Winnie The Pooh), Jeff Soto (Fantasia), Billy Baumann (Sleeping Beauty), Kilian Eng (Black Hole), Jay Shaw (The Cat From Outer Space), Kevin Tong (WALL-E, Up), David Peterson (The Rescuers), Tom Whalen (The Incredibles, Aladdin), Ken Taylor (Alice in Wonderland).
From the images they’ve released so far online, this will be no exception. By the looks of it, prints of these images will be limited (around 480 prints per image) and only sold at the actual art show in Austin. IF they have prints left over from the art show, those will go on sale online sometime after the show closes on March 11th.
If you live in Austin, or have access to getting there, I highly recommend it. And if you have children they will also be having a family event on Saturday March 8th from 9am to 11am where families will be able to enjoy the artwork, refreshments and various games and activities.
The Mondo Gallery is located at 4115 Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX 78751.The Gallery show is from March 7th-11th, and is open from 3pm-11pm.
