It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything of Disney and Marvel’s joint animated venture based on Big Hero 6, but today we finally got a release date. It looms like Big Hero 6 will occupy the big Thanksgiving week and will release on November 21, 2014.
BUT it appears that this date is booked only for Spain so far. I think we can safely assume that since it now has a concrete release date (at least in Spain), it will release in the US around the same time. Summer and the Holiday season are Disney’s favorite- and most profitable- times to release animated movies, so clearly this makes sense.
We have absolutely NO details regarding plot, characters or the like. Hand-drawn or CGI is another question. All we know is that it’s the legendary Walt Disney Animation Studios working in collaboration with Marvel to create this film. We can also assume that Disney will want to tweak the title a little and make it more accessible.
Big Hero 6, in the original comics, are a team of superheroes who work for the Japanese Government. Will Disney localize them and make them American? Will Big Hero 6 count as the 54th Disney Animated Feature? We’ll have to wait and see.
Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the news!
